I’m inspired to write this blog from an event that took place a few days ago after a good friend of mine asked if she could attend one of our open room showcases.

The reason for writing this is because the conversation we had after the meeting on the way home really made me think and put me more into the head of people that may be looking at your business for the first time and it made me think that even some of your team members will self-sabotage themselfs into mediocrity. 

So the meeting went great, I introduced her to a few people, there were about 60 people in the room all laughing, joking, sharing stories, learning from each other and just generally socializing. We took to our seats and sat through a very inspiring 2 part presentation were I could see she felt relaxed and at ease.

So to cut to the chase!! As we left the building we chatted about what she’d heard and about different people within the room and I shared a few stories. I asked her “what did she like the best about what she saw” and even though money is important my friend in question were more interested in the social aspect of the business.

Meeting new people, growing her social circle is very important to her and I know it is. As we got talking more about what she liked all of a sudden the conversation turned and she started making excuses of why she couldn’t do this business!!

Excuses like:

• But I’m not confident like you!
• I’m actually a shy person!
• I’m not as flexible as you!
• I don’t have a company car like you!

This is interesting because she’s telling me that the main reason for wanting to join this business is to have a bigger social circle and meet new people but then in another sentence she telling me that she not a confident person and shy and using this as a negative to NOT join the business!!

Confusion to the brain = Paralysation

So this is what I see!! If she keeps listening to her subconscious that’s telling her that she’s shy & not got confidence is she going to get the social circle of friends in life that she would like? Likely hood is not because she keeps telling herself that she’s shy.

She’s become a victim of her own excuses.

We talked a little about this and I mentioned the funny thing is, no one told you that you wasn’t a confident person, not your mum, dad, daughter, friends. But there is one person that’s very close to her and for years and years told her that she’s a shy person and not confident and that person is herself!! No One Else but herself!! Now that is powerful.

Let’s take this one stage further… If our minds are that powerful, that we can talk ourselves into believing what we say then isn’t this reversible?

What would happen if we started telling ourselves:

• I am confident which will abolish being shy,
• I am worthy of a better lifestyle,
• I do deserve to live my dreams
• People do like hanging out with me
• I am an interesting person
• I am fun etc… etc…

It’s called programming your brain or in a simpler form re-wiring yourself back together but in a positive and not negative way…

This obviously is just one excuse and to my knowing there’s millions of different excuses why people don’t join your business, Join but don’t get started, Never reach their ultimate lifestyle, goals or their full potential!!

Whatever’s holding you back don’t let it. You weren’t designed to just be mediocre, just get by, just get what you have, just to scrape by on what you earn.

I’m not a religious guy but I do know one thing and that is, we were put on this planet to achieve as much as we can in the time frame we have been given and when your times up…. It’s all gone and you will never be able to turn back the clock… Your clock will STOP ticking!!

The funny thing is your upline know’s the networking marketing times are changing but they don’t want you to!!

Times change for everything, businesses are always evolving, people are constantly changing. What worked for you 3 years ago needed changing today. In today’s network marketing times you need to be able to adapt, change, learn new skills because it’s a people’s business and what people responded to 3 years ago may not mean anything today.

When I first started out in my MLM venture I was very old school and when I mean old school we’re talking Flyers, Business Cards, Shop Ads, and Newspaper ads. Etc.. etc…

I’m not Knocking any of the above because they still work however it’s the results they produced I didn’t like. Let me tell you about one particular team building activity day we had about 4 years ago in my first MLM Business.

I arranged through-out the team to have an activity day. This meant that as a team we would get together and have fun whilst building our own businesses. In one day 17 team distributors came to our house in Doncaster  uk and in a 5 hour period we distributed:

• 340 Business Info Packs
• 9’500 Cards On Cars
• 131 Opportunity DVD’s Handed Out
• 70 Hot Pockets Placed On Lamp posts
• 150 Opportunity News Papers Handed Out
• 10 Posters Placed On Lamp Posts
• 1 Mini Presentation

You seriously can imagine the buzz and fun we had running around because to make it a little more exciting we split into 3 groups so we created a competition and the first team to get all their activity out won a bottle of bubbly. We also held a BBQ in the evening and drank a few beers. However the results were shocking to say the least…

Zero – Zero – Zero – Zero – Zero – Zero – Zero – Zero – Zero -Zero

From all that activity we got zilch and I totally can understand why…

• We were targeting people like throwing for a ‘bulls-eye’ with a blind fold on!
• If anyone saw us they probably thought ‘If I have to do that then I’m not interested’
• ‘Earn An Extra Income’ flyer, No longer worked!
• We were branding the company and not us as leaders

I’m pleased we did this but In my previous network marketing company that was pretty much the marketing training we got!!

Network Marketing Times change and with the internet at the forefront of technology network marketers need to embrace the power of this awesome tool to grow their businesses but it’s not just the using the internet has a tool it’s learning that the old school style marketing tricks of mass marketing like a time bomb putting out company flyers will eventually blow you out of the water making you feel negative about the industry.

Just by reading some of my other blog posts you can see that my marketing methods have changed…

By embracing the concept of Attraction Marketing by offering value to the market place driving your content to a targeted audience puts an all new spin on activity.

Let me say something ‘out-ALOUD’ Listen, you might be reading this post because you’re searching for another way to build your business? You might be sick to the back teeth of posting flyers, cards, shop ads?

But you daren’t go to your upline and say ‘the system’ just isn’t working!! because you know what they’re going to say…. ‘Just stick with it & do more!!

Listen, I know this because you wouldn’t believe how many times I heard this from my sponsor… Just do more!! The concept of doing more I could appreciate but it’s doing more of what doesn’t work in the first place that I couldn’t understand but I did it anyway…

What the definition of insanity? Yes!! & believe me my head was hurting!!

Are you trying to catch your warm market or any prospect out? Does cold calling work for you still?

In my opinion if you’re still cold calling to try and make sales for your business then you serious need to STOP!! And here are my reasons why!!

Network Marketing is all about referring people to either your product or services or recruiting them into your business again by the means of referral marketing or attraction marketing… In my opinion we are not sleazy 70’s – 80’s sales type sales people!!

You should have the correct skills to make an appointment so your prospect expects you when you say. If you feel that you need to catch someone out by surprising them, then your time and success is limited in network marketing and you’ll do more damage than good.

Here’s a simple script to use if you feel like you need more guidance.

“Hi Sam, I just thought I’d let you know I’ve started a new business and I think you may be interested in the services, do you like saving money Sam”?…. Yes, of course I like saving money!! “Cool, I’ll pop round to show you how much you can save” Simple!!

Your network marketing product may not be able to save someone money however use whatever benefits you have at the end of the script to suit the prospect and you’ll find they’ll agree to see you.

How would you like it if someone tried to catch you out and suddenly tried pitching you on a product or business?  If you’re like me then you’ll automatically build a barrier between you both and you wouldn’t be buying their products. No-body today likes been sold to… Here’s a few more tips, please make sure:

• There’s a need for your product
• You’re prospect will see multi benefits
• You have arranged appointments
• You think about your prospect and NOT your sale

I hope the above gave you some guidance and you’ll stop cold calling. Some companies tell you to make calls and just to say.” Hey, I’m coming round to see you. I’ve something I want to show you, get the kettle on!!

Please!! Come on Folks – Don’t do it!!  

Just touching on sleazy sales people If you get a sales person come to you saying something like “watch me I’m going to cut this up with my sales skills” Get ready to move on, because they’ll not last 5 minutes.

They may make sales but that’s all they want to do. When it comes to developing someone’s skills or coaching/mentoring someone they’re not bothered and their bottom end in their business will always be dropping out.

My blog tips, scripts, methods are all from trail & error. I’ve personally made some errors along my way and I wouldn’t like you to make the same ones. From my personal blog you can learn what’s working for me today and these are what I do on a day to day basis!!

I wanted to write this 2^nd blog post of today because I’m still shocked that people are still marketing their company and NOT branding themselves!!

“People join people that solve problems NOT Companies, companies don’t solve problems”

Earlier today I thought about looking at some free ad sites to run some marketing and to do some market research to see what other network marketers are doing. I guess I wasn’t that surprised when I saw distributors from the same company advertising the same company logo and inside the ad description they were running the same ad content!?

So let me ask a question? If a prospect was actually looking to join that company what makes the distributors different? Neither of the ads were

• personal,
  
• showing leadership,
• branding themselves… 

If you were going to join a business, wouldn’t you want to know more about the person you’re joining, if they have marketing skills, a system, success with their business, if they have a local team that they could meet and how they could help you?

So, I went to work to set myself a free ads marketing campaign but with a difference, I branded myself.. It wasn’t hard to stand out from the crowd…

I never mentioned the company, Never mentioned the product or services, I never mentioned the comp plan, I never mention what they’d be doing but within the content I told them:  

• What I would be looking for within the person to set a standard,
• Talked about my unique marketing system
• Talked about potential earnings
• Talked about the skill based coaching
• Talked about the level of commitment I would give them if they were to follow our system

People these days need a little more than just a company logo because they mean nothing and just popping some corporate literature bullet points down is too cold and un-personal…

Let’s warm your marketing up a little and set it on fire with a little of YOU… Put some YOU into your marketing, tell your prospects what YOU can offer and be different from other distributors that’s in your company and you’ll soon become the top recruiter…

Generate 20 – 30 Leads Per Day Uk Network Marketing Leads

Leads are the life blood of your business. If you’re not generating leads on a daily basis then your business isn’t going to move forward.  The biggest struggle Network Marketers have is recruiting new blood. If you take action on the list below it’ll not take long before you start generating UK Network Marketing Leads.

The lead generating activities below are all offline ways and the reason I’m covering these is because it’ll be quicker for you to generate leads offline than to start trying to market your business online just for now.

• Your Warm Market – I know what you’re thinking however this is something you need to crack on with… The best way I would deal with this is to simply make the call and say

“John, I just thought I’d call you to let you know I’ve just started a new venture and wondered if you would be open to looking at an alternative way to make an income if it didn’t effect what you are currently doing”?

If they say no leave it at that!! Don’t mention it again. If they say yes, then do what you’ve been taught to do within your business

• Local Events – Networking events are a great way to build connections with like-minded people. Attend as many as possible

• Connecting with local people  – I wouldn’t talk about my business with people in the street however what I would do is fish with conversations as I’m paying for things at my local store, petrol station, markets etc… etc… to seeing who would be open to looking at an alternative way to make an extra income

• Business Card Collection – I would collect business cards and approach them with the opportunity

• Business Magazine – Pop to your local magazine store and place your business card in the Money Making Magazines, Financial Magazine’s or whatever niche market you are working in.

• Referrals –  When you’ve finished talking to people ask them if they know of anyone that may be interested…

There’s other forms ways you could go around to generate you uk network marketing leads however you’ll find that these are the more effective ways to get the best leads.

If you look at the ways above you’ll notice that you’ll be targeting more business people than just any old tom, dick or harry!! Business people, Entrepreneurs are more likely to listen to you and except your information.

When Should You Play More Of A Leadership Role In Your Network Marketing Business?

I’m not the typical network marketer that jumps from ship to ship on new ground breaking opportunities. In my networking lifetime I’ve been involved with just one other company and that were for over 10 years.

I felt from the out-set of my first company I took a leadership role to some degree from the time I got involved to when I parted company just a few short years ago.

You obviously have different levels of leadership and even though at the beginning I started taken action from what I was asked of from my upline on a daily basis showed that I had potential to become a true leader of an organisation.

I hear it all the time and you’ll have this too:

“I’ll just see how it goes and if it goes well I’ll get more serious and become a leader” Or “When I get a team I will become a leader, but for now I’ll just stop as I am”

You see, this used to frustrate me… Listen to this!! If you’re one of those business builders that’s said this in the past let me ask you a question…

If you want to save £100’000 into your personal bank account where do you start? Have you heard the expression?

You see most people think well, £100’000 is a lot of money (which it is) however they’ll say to themselves “when I’m earning £30’000 a year I’ll be able to save more but at the moment I’m only earning £1200 per month so I’ll not start saving…… Wrong!!!

You see… If you can’t look after the pennies NOW then you’ll not be able to look after your pennies when you’re earning £30’000 per year!!

So let’s get back to the question of this blog post.

You should become a leader in your organisation straight away.

Even if ‘you are’ the only person within your business, if you can take full charge of your own actions, responsibilities, then if you can lead yourself then and only then can you lead a team.

It starts with YOU!! You’ll not be able to lead and look after a team if you can’t look after yourself…

Take full responsibility for your actions, become accountable and step into a leadership role and stop holding onto your upline’s apron strings.

What do you see in every shop window, Restaurants, café shops? What do people love to give you when you meet someone new at a conference, meeting… We are talking about business cards!

Collect Business Cards & Follow Up

This is the strategy I use to share my business with over  20 – 30 people per day  5 days per week, which results in having 10 – 15 people viewing my  MLM business everyday…

The Business Card Strategy For Your MLM Success

It’s simple: Once you have a pile of business cards in front of you simple call them up and say,

“Hi John, my name is __________ . I found your business card this morning in __________, I just thought I’d throw it out there to see if you would be interested in looking at an alternative way to produce a money that didn’t interfere with your current day to day business”?  

Once you’ve asked a question it warrants a reply. So, just zip your mouth and don’t say anything else… You might get asked to repeat yourself which is fine.

You’ll mainly get three responses:

1. It depends what it is…
2. I’m always open to looking at earning money…
3. No, I’m not interested but thank you anyway…

If they answer with No.1 & No.2 then simply say,

“Great, I’ll send you an email with a link directing you to our website. Take a good look at the information and I’ll call you back later to answer any questions and to see if it’s a fit. If it is we could arrange to meet for a coffee and a chat” Ok?

Take down their e-mail address unless it’s on the business card which you’ll just need to clarify that’s it’s the best e-mail to send the info to and you’re away…

If you get No.3… Simply say,

“That’s great, not a problem, I just thought I’d give you the option of looking. Feel free to keep my number and if you decide to change your mind then give me a call”

Once you follow up later the same evening or the following day don’t ask them “did you get time to look at the video” just go straight in and say, “________ What did you ‘like best’ about the video”?  (or whatever you sent them. Presentation slides, company video, downloadable e-book, etc…ect…) talk about that for a short while and ask, “would that be the main reason for you getting involed or was there something else”?

The key here is to ask questions and get your prospect talking about what the liked? Why they liked it? Why would that benefit them?

You’ll see your prospects talking themselves into joining you in your MLM business.
